Frontline Source Group’s Founder and CEO shares expert insights

It’s a strong job market out there, and companies are struggling to find the right, next employees from the extremely-tight labor pool. But how do you spot the right candidate? How do you make the hiring process a success?

With over ten years of industry leadership, and having placed thousands of professionals in positions across the entire country, Frontline Source Group is in a unique position to provide insight to companies in their hiring efforts. For example…

Tip #1: Look beyond the résumé.

Sure, résumés are an important part of the hiring process, but recognize that they are just that – a part. Companies and candidates alike tend to get so hung up on the résumé that they lose the larger picture of the candidate and their potential benefit to the company. Yes, the candidate may use certain keywords, describe their skills and list their education and experience.

But it’s important to dig deeper. And this leads us to…

Tip #2: Gauge the match.

Get to know the person in front of you. Try to get a sense of their goals, their hopes and their career plans. Listen to the things they say.

Are they on par with the goals of the company?

Would they fit in?

What are their future goals?

The hiring process has to be more than a job-requirement checklist. Treat this more like making a great match. Will you work well together? Will you help each other grow?

Tip #3: Ask THIS question.

And how do you find out all of this information? The best way is to ask questions… relevant, nonthreatening, open-up-to-me kinds of questions. Especially this one: “Tell me about your first job.” You want to discover where they went to work and how they got the job.

This tells you a lot about the person. Are they go-getters who started working at a young age? Were they given a job by their parents? Did they just get their first job after college?

This is so important because it helps you understand the path they came from, what got them there and where they are today.

Great Hires Are Out There!

There are good people out there with fantastic skills waiting to work for your company. You just have to spend the time to research accordingly, look at the person behind the résumé and ask the right questions!
