3 Keys to Business Success from Frontline Source Group’s Founder and CEO
Bill Kasko shares the secrets that have taken Frontline to the forefront of the permanent and temporary placement industry
If you do a Google search on “job staffing agencies,” you may be surprised at how many results you’ll get. Over six million! How’s that for a crowded industry!
Yet in this hyper-competitive field, our company, Frontline Source Group has managed to grow in size, reputation and influence. After ten years, 17 offices, and having placed thousands of good people in great temporary and permanent positions across the country, you might say we’ve reached the forefront of our industry.
What accounts for our business success?
Key to Success #1: People first, money second.
Sure. People are worried about the economy, and trying hard to make ends meet. This country still holds out the promise of rising up through hard work, and Frontline does our share to help people reach those goals.
And that’s just the thing. It’s people reaching those goals. They are at the center of our every effort. People first.
We’re in the people business. We’ve created a culture where people understand it’s important to work hard, but it’s also important to have the ability to go home at night, be with their families and enjoy life. Life is way too short.
Our culture, where you work hard but enjoy the rewards and benefits of personal relationships, personal growth, and time off – well, that creates a culture where people don’t want to leave. Our tenure rate is phenomenally high. Our staff is happy. And it trickles down. They make our clients happy. They treat them well… and that comes right back to us in a positive way.
It’s about people. The money comes later.
Key to Success #2: Grow from within and grow some more.
This goes hand-in-hand with the first key to success above. When you keep your people happy, not only do they stay with the company, but they bring other, like-minded people in as well. These are people like themselves who are hard-working, great people to be around. These are folks who get the job done well and let their enthusiasm shine.
And we encourage that internal growth. We hire from within. We create career paths that take great rookies straight out of college and help them grow with the team. We train them, we let them know their value, and we let them know that as long as they give it their best, there’s a place for them on our team.
When you build a team from within – that team keeps on building. We started off really small and have grown organically with the strongest roots you can imagine with branches that are reaching for the sky.
Key to Success #3: It’s not a race.
People often ask… “So, what’s your short term and long term plan?” To which we answer – this is not a race.
Of course it’s important to set some goals. We know what we want to accomplish this year. We have some goals for two years out, and we’re working toward achieving them.
But more importantly, we’re making sure that we stay true to our day-to-day mission… that we stay true to ourselves. We keep on making sure that our team is happy, growing and personally fulfilled. We make sure that it’s clear that it’s not me as CEO who makes this company grow. It’s each and every one of us. Every day. We’re not racing toward some superficial profit number with a finish line. We’re making a difference in people’s lives each and every moment.
